Health Awareness
Health emergencies can occur on a small or large scale.
The most recent large scale public health emergency has been H1N1 flu. The images on the right of the page are of the newly identified H1N1 influenza virus. They were taken in the CDC Influenza Laboratory. This strain of flu is a new strain which most people have little to no immunity to, however vaccinations are being created and tested to improve immunity. The symptoms are much like the seasonal flu. It is recommended that most people receive an annual flu shot for the seasonal flu. Hand washing is the best prevention. For more information on the seasonal or H1N1 flu visit the links to your left.
You may also find links on this page for smaller health emergencies that you may experience in your home such as food recalls or accidental poisonings.
