Summer and Winter Extreme Temperatures
Summer
A combination of the temperature and relative humidity is what gives us the heat index. The heat index is how hot it is in the shade based on the temperature and humidity. The National Weather Service (NWS) monitors the Heat Index and issues warnings when temperatures become dangerous. For information on how to keep cool and safe in the summer heat use the links on your left.
Winter
The National Weather Service (NWS) also has a wind chill factor that they use during winter storms, however in most our area the wind chill does not reach dangerous extremes. In this area our biggest winter threat is usually ice which causes slick roads and power outages. Use the links on the left to better prepare yourself and family before an ice storm threatens.
